Cleantech Innovation Highlights Series - WEEK 2

Series—Week Two

This is SEP’s second post in our weekly series highlighting key insights from our Cleantech Innovation Hubs Whitepaper.

Cleantech’s leaderboard is shifting. The Bay Area continues to hold the crown as the top U.S. cleantech hub—but its grip is loosening. Between 2021 and 2024, it lost 9% of its relative strength, dropping 86 points (out of 1,000)—the only top-20 hub to see a decline.

Meanwhile, Boston is charging forward, and now sits firmly in second place. It gained 112 points, the largest increase of any hub. And the gap between it and the predecessor is 223 points—Boston is pulling away.

What will the next 3 years look like? To make an informed bet, access the free executive summary, low-cost whitepaper, and interactive hub database here: https://www.saoradh.com/marketplace-new/2024-cleantech-innovation-hubs-survey

SEP’s 2024 Cleantech Innovation Hubs Survey ranks the top 100 U.S. cleantech hubs based on their strength in Research, Technology, and Venture activity, offering a fresh update to our 2021 report.
